The Federation of Civil Societies Organisations (FOCS) on Sunday asserted that the Mizoram and Manipur governments would be held accountable if any untoward incident befell the Manipuris residing in Mizoram.

FOCS further questioned if the Mizoram government had instigated CSOs in the state to publish the recent slew of notifications for Meiteis to remain vigil in Mizoram.

Speaking to media at FOCS office, Imphal, federation preisdent Th Manihar maintained that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was incapable of leading the nation as he had utterly failed to raise and mete out even one possible measure to rein in the violence in Manipur.

“Numerous barbaric acts have been happening since May 3 but it took a viral video to jolt the prime minister of the Manipur crisis and that too within a very limited context; where is his sympathy for the thousands who have suffered inhuman violence within the last two months,” he said.

He pointed out that the caution to Meiteis to relocate to safe locations before the rally on July 25 was synonymous with warning the Meiteis to scurry out of Mizoram.

It may be mentioned that the Mizo National Front (MNF), a political party under the peace accord had called for the rally on July 25 in Mizoram.

He further questioned the Mizoram and the central governments if they were going to neglect proper security protocols for Manipuris even after such unprovoked threats against Meiteis in Mizoram.

Since day one, the Mizoram government has taken an opposing stance against the Meiteis and meddled in the crisis unnecessarily, he added.
