According to reports, the houses of the said village were burned down on May 3 by unknown miscreants. The displaced villagers, who have been taking shelter elsewhere, returned to their houses accompanied by Assam Rifles personnel on Friday at around 10 am, along with five trucks, to collect their belongings from their houses.

When they reached Terapur Bazar on their way back after collecting their things, the villagers saw the village burning.

The villagers said the fire destroyed a granary and other household items left behind by the villagers.

Police said the fire could have been started by unknown miscreants as a show of anger towards the villagers for coming back with the Assam Rifles.
