Unknown miscreants planted an Indian hand grenade at the residence of S Kangleipal, 42, son of Sapam Shyamsunder of Nongada Awang Leikai under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East around 6 am on Sunday.
A team of State Bomb Disposal Squad safely removed the grenade at around 9.10 am and handed it over to Lamlai Police station.
Meanwhile, a rifleman who was on duty at the 24-AR Outpost Post santry post under the jurisdiction of Shangshak Police Station, Ukhrul district allegedly killed himself with his own service rifle on saturday around 10.45 am.
The deceased is identified as Birendra Kumar, 39 son of Kailash of Dinauyalganj, PS Islampur, Nilanda, Bihar bearing rifleman registration number G/5009147. Shangshak Police Station registered a case on the incident.
The body has been taken to his hometown after conducting a postmortem at JNIMS Mortuary.
