Miscreants fired several rounds of gunshots at a hotel located at Kakching Lamkhai around 7.30 pm on Saturday, a public meeting condemning the incident was held at Kakching Lamkhai in Kakching district on Monday.
At the public meeting organised by Kakching Lamkhai Welfare Board, the owner of the hotel, Pukhrambam ongbi Puspolata alias Inao expressed that they have not received monetary demands from any organisation and they have no enmities with anyone.
She said that she has been running the hotel to help deliver treatment to her ailing husband and also run her household.
She has not wronged anyone in the past, she said. She vehemently condemned the act of shooting at the hotel, stating that they had been following a simple lifestyle.
“The incident has terrorised the locals. Whoever is responsible for the attack should issue a clarification. We further appeal not to repeat such acts of intimidating people at populated areas,” she said.
The hotel and other shops located at Kakching lamkhai were closed down in protest for the day while the public meeting was held. Slogans condemning the incident and demanding clarifications were also raised during the protest.
