Manipur Minister Y Khemchand, during the celebration of International Women Day on Friday, praised the undeterred role and bravery of the Manipuri women in every conflict and issue of Manipur since the beginning of history.
He was delivering the chief guest speech during the celebration jointly organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and Thongju Apunba Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (TAWMCSL) under the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” at Hotel Imphal.
The minister said, women around the world have been taking a vital role in shaping a better society, however the women of Manipur are one step ahead in terms of bravery, citing Nupi Lal and their roles during the ongoing crisis.
He further encouraged the women to continue their role to restore peace in Manipur.
The programme, which was also attended by MSCW Chairperson Salam Ulka, mission director of Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission N Bandana, TAWMCSL president N Bimola among others, also witnessed motivational and success speeches from various women.
