Military operations continue, four bunkers destroyed in violence-hit Manipur

A total of 1,100 arms, 13,702 ammunition and 250 bombs of different kinds have been recovered till date statement issued by the police control room stated.

As many as four bunkers were destroyed and another six occupied by security forces on Friday as a part of the ongoing military operation.

A statement issued by the police control room stated the operation was conducted by a joint team of Kangpokpi District Police and Central Forces at four locations in Kangpokpi district during which four bunkers were destroyed. Another six bunkers have been occupied by security, it said.

The statement further said that the situation is tense but under control with some sporadic incidents in some districts but normal in most districts.

District security coordination committee meetings are held at the districts regularly, patrolling, lag marches and cordon and search operations are conducted in vulnerable areas with special emphasis on fringe areas of both hill and valley districts, it said.

On Saturday, the statement further stated, a combined team of district Police Imphal-West and Central Forces with Executive Magistrates conducted search operations at two locations in Imphal West District.

Meanwhile, movement of essential items along NH-37 is ensured with strict security measures. Curfew was relaxed for 12 to 15 hours in five valley districts, Pherzawl and Jiribam districts, 8 to 10 hours in Tengnoupal, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.

There is no curfew in the remaining six hill districts, it said.

During the last 24 hours, five arms have been recovered from Imphal East districts, the police control room said, adding that a total of 1,100 arms, 13,702 ammunition and 250 bombs of different kinds have been recovered till date.

It appealed to the general public to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy in the state, to clarify any rumour by dialling rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room, and also to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immediately.
