Meitei Presbytery Society has asked the Meitei Christian Churches Council Manipur to remove their destroyed churches name from a petition submitted to the Supreme Court of India, under list of destroyed churches in the conflict.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club on Tuesday, Meitei Presbytery Society vice president Soibam Nabakishore said that during the violence in Manipur, various churches including quarters and properties of Meitei Christian were destroyed. In connection to that, Meitei Christian Churches Council Manipur filed a Petition before the SC on May 11, 2023.
Among lists of destroyed churches, some churches which are under Manipur Presbytery Society included in the name of Presbyterian Churches of India (PCI head quarter shillong).
He said that the MCCCM should remove those Meitei Presbytery Churches from the list or else bear consequences.
