The United Council for Restoration of Communal Harmony (UCORECH) on Tuesday informed that a consultative meeting to discuss the unchecked influx of illegal immigrants and migrants in Manipur would be organised on August 12 at JN Dance Academy.
Speaking to the media at UCORECH office in Imphal, general secretary of the council Islam Makakcha stated that various political and social issues had risen in the state as a result of the influx and as such it was pertinent to draw out measures to check this influx and regain control of Manipur.
“Several regions in Manipur including Jiribam, Churachandpur and Moreh have been completely absorbed by the non-local population; this poses a serious threat to not only the state’s integrity but also to national security,” he said.
As such he exhorted all concerned citizens of Manipur to take part in the meeting and aid drawing measures to tackle this problem.
If the problem is left unchecked it can lead to even more devastating consequences in the future, he added.
