Meat sellers in Manipur told to follow food safety rules

Specific hygienic and sanitary practices are to be followed by food business operators engaged in manufacturing, processing, storing and selling of meat and meat products as per the Schedule IV of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulation, 2011.

The Manipur government on Thursday notified meat sellers to follow specific hygienic and sanitary practices, following detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) cases in some districts of the state.

A memorandum issued by the Office of the Designated Officer (Food Safety Administration) stated that all food business operators in possession of either license or registration certificate for selling meat and meat products in Imphal West, Manipur are to follow strictly as far as practicable, the Part IV [Refer Regulation 2.1.2(10 (5)].

It stated that specific hygienic and sanitary practices are to be followed by food business operators engaged in manufacture, processing, storing and selling of meat and meat products as per the Schedule IV of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulation, 2011.
