Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) on Saturday called upon the masses to extend their assistance in making the upcoming Lok Sabha elections free and fair.
The group maintained that an ideal election which adheres to honest principle and expression was vital to create a just and developed society.
As such MAYOL highlighted that the group will hand out pamphlets to aid the people in making the right political decision.
Speaking to the media at MAYOL office, Imphal, MAYOL president Asem Prince noted that the pamphlet would be called ‘Meekhal Kanglon Chumthoknaba MAYOL na Meeyamda Pijaba Paojel’ and exuded confidence that pamphlets would guide the people in making politically conscious decision during the election.
“The pamphlet would lay out guidelines which people can use to make their choices in the elections,” he said.
Some of the principles mentioned in the pamphlet include safeguarding one’s voting right from bribery, to stop using intoxicants and drugs to amass support of people especially the youths, to prohibit EVM tampering and to prevent untoward incidents and violence.
Prince exuded confidence that politics founded on just principles could lead to good governance and overall development of the society.
“Politics plays a crucial role in deciding the trajectory of the society,” he said.
He further stated that MAYOL would continue to organise mass campaigns to awaken the people and make them politically and morally grounded.
