MATAM celebrates 40th foundation day

In connection with the celebration, a book entitled “Thang-Ta gi Hourakpham”, written by former president of MATAM Guru Rosen Longjamba, was released.

The Malem Apunba Thang Ta Maheikol (MATAM) on Monday celebrated its 40th foundation day at JN Manipur Dance Academy in Imphal.

In connection with the celebration, a book entitled “Thang-Ta gi Hourakpham”, written by former president of MATAM Guru Rosen Longjamba, was released.

Delivering his speech, Guru Rosen Longjamba informed that the book is a result of his 20 years of research works and it was indeed a great challenge to write the book as history needs to be based on facts.

He also highlighted the activities of MATAM which had been giving its immense effort to preserve and uplift the spirit of Thang-Ta of Manipur.

The celebration also witnessed presentation of various cultural programmes by students from different institutes.

It was also attended by director of JNMDA Pukhrambam Bilash as chief guest and retired principal Mangsatabam Lokendra as president while deputy director of Art and Culture G Dharmadash Sharma, state awaredee Athokpam Ojendro Meitei and assistant professor of MCU Makhonmani Mangsaba as guests of honour.
