Maring organisations condemn assault on individual

The Maring organisations condemned the alleged assault on one Dk Korungthang by para military forces stationed at 3rd Assam Rifles Tengnoupal on Tuesday.

The Maring Frontal Organisations (MFO) comprising of the Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA), the Maring students’ Union (MSU) and the Maring Napuiya Yinglam, Maring Women Organisation (MNY) on Thursday condemned the alleged assault on one Dk Korungthang by para military forces stationed at 3rd Assam Rifles Tengnoupal on Tuesday evening.

A joint release issued by MUA vice president Radmalv Dangshawa; MNY president K Hoinu Charang and MSU general secretary Dangshawa Manyairung highlighted the details of the incident.

It stated that the victim and one of his associates, identified as Ds Moran, went to N Satang village in Tengnoupal district, during which some personnel of 3rd Assam Rifles stationed at Sansak road junction allegedly detained the duo and assaulted them.

It further said that personal belongings of the victim, including cash of Rs 4 lakh and a gypsy were allegedly seized by the personnel who detained them. The MFO equivocally rejected the false charges levelled upon Dk Korungthang by the Para Military forces, the release stated and termed it "baseless".

It went on to accuse the para military forces and Assam Rifles of harming the people of the eastern Maring since long-time back. It added that such instances of harassment done to the people have become intolerable by the innocent public. It also warned to shun harassing the public immediately.

It further urged those concerned to return the seized items belonging to the victim within 24 hours, failing which the organisation warned of agitations by the Maring and Nagas. It also appealed to all the Naga civil society organizations and concerned Naga citizens to stand up against such heinous acts.
