Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the first water amusement park of the state at Thenguchingjin Awang Potsangbam in Imphal East district and announced that more will be set up in seven districts.
Addressing the gathering, CM Biren said that due to the absence of adequate entertainment infrastructure and environment, well-to-do families travel outside the state just to have fun and enjoyment thus draining the economy of the state.
However, water amusement parks in the state will not only save the state's economy but it will also provide fun and enjoyment to everyone, he said.
He said that the amusement park will be expanded by adding a trekking train for children and a toy train in the park.
He stressed on the need for equality in development to encourage love among the people. There will be nine amusement parks in total with the upcoming amusement parks, the CM said.
Manipur had endured so many difficulties and challenges in many phases. However, it prevailed with a peaceful environment where many developmental projects were taken up successfully. Yet again Manipur is going through tough days, CM Biren said.
Nevertheless, the struggle will surely end one day as the government is putting all means to restore everlasting peace and stability, he said.
He said that the Kuki community has also started realising that the current conflict is not against them but against those who are doing illegal activities and entered the state after 1961.
He appealed to the people to refrain from provocative words or speech which may promote enmity in the state. He also called on everyone to be very cautious in giving public speeches or TV discussions.
The inaugural programme was attended by Minister Govindas, Minister Awangbou Newmai, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Minister Sapam Ranjan, Minister Heikham Dingo, chief secretary Vineet Joshi, security advisor Kuldiep Singh and MLAs.
