Amid widespread protests in Imphal and the valley over death and mayhem in Moreh, there are several reports of coordinated attacks by Kuki militants in isolated villages located at the fringe areas of the valley.
Intermittent shooting and bomb attacks were reported from Kadangband and Koutruk in Imphal West, Keithelmanbi in Imphal East, and a few villages located in the foothills of Bishnupur district.
According to sources, it was raining bombs at Koutruk fired from bunkers located in the nearby hill ridges late Wednesday and militants made inroads in Kadangband as there were few village volunteers to defend the village.
Meanwhile, several people were injured as central paramilitary forces tried to quell protests over the Moreh attacks in Khangabok area, Thoubal district.
According to reports, three paramilitary personnel were also seriously injured in the scuffle with protestors.
Among the 14 injured protestors, at least six had bullet injuries and evacuated to RIMS and Shija Hospital in Imphal.
Protests in Imphal were directed against the inaction of central forces in Moreh and even demanded withdrawal from the border town.
