Several residents of Wangoi area on Sunday staged a sit-in at Wangoi Bazar Community hall, decrying the hurling of a hand grenade at the residence of chief conservator of Forest Department Longjam Joykumar at Wangoi Longjam Leikai, Imphal West.
The incident took place on Friday when unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade at the chief conservator's residence which falls under Wangoi Police Station.
Several protestors held various placards condemning the reckless act which triggered panic among the public.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the protest, Wangoi Apunba Meira Paibi Shagolshem Asha secretary condemned the bomb attack amid the enraging turmoil in the state.
"The year-long crisis is already reeling the people under immense pressure to cope with. The mental and physical distress has taken a heavy toll and such attacks amid the prevailing unrest is strongly condemnable,” she said.
She also highlighted that Joykumar's spouse was undergoing chemotherapy for her cancer treatment. If there was any disagreement; they could've talked it out in a civilized manner instead of resorting to violence, she added.
She stated that all Manipuris were suffering in the crisis together and appealed to all not to mete out such actions in the future
