The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur has condemned in the strongest terms the heinous crime against two women in Manipur that surfaced through a video that went viral.
The inhuman act of stripping the women and parading them naked in front of a crowd cannot be accepted by any means in any civilized society, ABVP stated in a release.
It demanded the arrest and trial of all the culprits involved at the earliest as per the law and set an example so that such an act be not repeated anywhere in the future.
ABVP Manipur also urges the government to act on all the other cases that have been filed during this conflict and justice be delivered irrespective of their community, it added.
The incident was carried out by a group of people with criminal mindsets and it cannot be justified by any means and should be condemned by all. Also, the incident should not be used to malign the image of a particular society or community, it stated.
ABVP Manipur State Secretary Rk Rabichandra Singh said that the governments, both at the Centre and the state, should intervene in the ongoing conflict in Manipur to restore peace and bring normalcy at the earliest.
"We believe that violence is no option and peaceful and democratic means of dialogue is the only means to bring peace in the long run," he said.
Misunderstandings and differences of opinion are normal in a family or in a society but differences can be solved only when we sit and talk. Now that the PM has also stepped in we hope that the crisis will come to a peaceful end and we will get to see the old Manipur in its full glory. We pray everyone to be patient and work together to bring back peace, he said.
