The unrest in Manipur is a political problem and that it should be solved politically, the Manipur Communist Party of India said on Saturday. It said the turmoil in state shows the long negligence of administration.

"It is not a communal crisis but a political crisis and it has become an international issue with many intellectual leaders of the world starting to discuss about it,” CPI Manipur State Council secretary Leishangthem Thoiren said while addressing the press at the Irawat Bhavan in Imphal on Saturday,

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's long silence on the matter CPI Manipur State Council secretary Leishangthem Thoiren pointed out that the prime minister denied any appointment to any leaders from Manipur.

Representatives of 10 political parties were in Delhi and met with different ministries and submitted memorandum, former CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar said.

The state government has not been able to control the clash that began on May 3 and the prime minister called for a high-level meeting only after leaders came to Delhi, he said.

Also, pointing out that Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted an all-party meeting, he asked where is the outcome and what have they decided to bring peace in the state.

"The Manipur CPI will not remain silent and we will start various movements," Sotinkumar said, adding that the state government should take accurate decisions to restore peace in the state.

Until and unless the state government takes an accurate decision to bring peace in the state without destroying the integrity of Manipur, the CPI will continue its movement, he announced.

Leaders of CPI, including two MPs, will visit Manipur this week, he added.
