Suspected Kuki militants opened fire at Koutruk under Lamshang Police Station in Imphal West on Monday.  
According to sources, the militants reportedly opened indiscriminate fire in the village from Bethel side around 8:30 pm.

Subsequently, 5th IRB personnel stationed at Koutruk retaliated, leading to a heavy exchange of fire.

There are no confirmed reports of casualties from the fighting till the time of filing this report.
