Manipur: Village volunteers unite to form Kanglei Ngaklou

The oath-taking ceremony took place before the shrine of Lord Ibudhou Pakhangba and Ibendhou Laisna, following a green signal from the King of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba.

In a bid to foster unity in Manipur and safeguard its indigenous culture and religion, a new civil body named “Kanglei Ngaklou” was officially established on Monday at Uttar Shanglen of Sana Konung in Imphal.

This formation, involving village volunteers from various regions, marks a significant step towards preserving the cultural heritage of the state.

The oath-taking ceremony took place before the shrine of Lord Ibudhou Pakhangba and Ibendhou Laisna, following a green signal from the King of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba.

The event was further highlighted by the release of the emblem-engraved flag of Kanglei Ngaklou by Angom Nongthou (King) Poreiton, symbolising the official commencement of the organisation’s activities.

Sapamcha Kangleipal, a political activist and advisor to Kanglei Ngaklou, addressed the gathering, emphasising the urgent need for the organisation in the current critical situation in Manipur. He highlighted the primary motive of Kanglei Ngaklou, which is to protect the indigenous people of Manipur from external aggressions with a spirit of sacrifice and dedication.

Kangleipal also highlighted the necessity of embodying qualities such as a pure heart, sacrificial spirit, discipline, and respect for women to safeguard the indigenous spirit of the people.

He warned that without these qualities, the societal progress of Manipur would face significant setbacks.
He lastly encouraged all members of Kanglei Ngaklou to actively engage in efforts to protect Manipur’s integrity and the heritage of its indigenous communities.

Angom Ningthou (King) Poireiton also spoke at the ceremony, expressing his opinion that Kanglei Ngaklou should take a pivotal role in shaping the future of Manipur’s society.

He voiced his hope that the organization would work in alignment with the public’s interests and play a significant part in promoting unity and cultural preservation.

The formation of Kanglei Ngaklou comes at a time when Manipur faces various socio-political challenges. The organisation aims to unite the people of Manipur under a common cause to create a more cohesive and resilient society in Manipur.
