Manipur: Vehicle lifter caught red-handed

One vehicle lifter was apprehended red-handed while he was attempting to lift a vehicle near Nirmalabas School, Imphal West around 9 am on Tuesday.

A team of traffic control police wing apprehended one vehicle lifter red-handed while he was attempting to lift a vehicle near Nirmalabas School, Imphal West around 9 am on Tuesday.

The vehicle lifter has been identified as one Makakmayum Sajid Khan, 23, son of M Farijuddin Khan from Kshetrigao Imphal East and presently staying at Hapta Golapati, Imphal East.

The traffic control police team led by assistant sub-inspector M Wilson Kom were performing normal duty near Nirmalabas School Sajid when they spotted a person trying to start a two-wheeler (Jupiter) bearing registration number MN06SF-0331 in a suspicious manner.

Seeing the suspicious manner, the officer inquired what he was doing. Without giving any answer, the vehicle lifter fled away from the spot, leaving the key he used while trying to start the vehicle. After a long chase, the traffic police personnel nabbed him at Majorkhul area.

On questioning, he revealed his name and disclosed that he was trying to steal the vehicle. Sajid was handed over to the City Police station for further necessary legal action.
