Manipur Unrest: Missing teens JAC to intensify agitation

The JAC cautioned that it will be launching intensified forms of agitations with support from various CSOs, student bodies, political parties, the womenfolk and others from Thursday if their demand is not fulfilled.

The JAC against the missing of Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony has threatened to launch intensified forms of agitations with support of CSOs and student organisations if the government fails to find their whereabouts by Wednesday.

A press note issued and signed by secretary publicity of the JAC Konsam Suresh on Tuesday mentioned that Ningthoujam Anthony, son of late N Sunder and Maibam Avinash, son of Maibam Hemanta on Sunday went to attend a function at Awang Sekmai. Both the teenagers have been reportedly missing since then, it stated.

The JAC formed in connection with the incident demanded that the state government or authority concerned should find out the whereabouts of the two teenagers by Wednesday. It cautioned that the JAC will be launching intensified forms of agitations with support from various CSOs, student bodies, political parties, the womenfolk and others from Thursday if their demand is not fulfilled.

The JAC appealed to all sections of the society to help while finding the two missing teenagers.

The JAC also resolved to make a three-point demand that includes seeking assistance from various political parties, social organisations and the womenfolk.

It further resolved to demonstrate protest in respective localities. If the government failed to find out the whereabouts of the two missing teenagers and hand them over to the respective family members by Wednesday, then intensified forms of agitation including bandhs in support with various social organisations of Manipur will be launched.

The state government should bear all the consequences, if any unwanted incident occurs, it added.
