Manipur Unrest: Curfew hours

The Manipur government has relaxed curfew in Imphal West district from 5 am to 10 pm while the same has been relaxed from 5 am till 10 pm in Thoubal district for Saturday.

With the state showing development of law and order, the Manipur government has relaxed curfew in Imphal West district from 5 am to 10 pm while the same has been relaxed from 5 am till 10 pm in Thoubal district for Saturday.

As per orders issued by Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West district, N Johnson Meetei on Friday, curfew has been relaxed for all areas of the district in order to facilitate the general public in purchasing essential items including medicines and food.

This relaxation will not include any gathering/sit-in-protest/rally etc. without obtaining approval through competent authority, it stated.

It further mentioned that movement of persons belonging to essential services such as health, electricity, PHED, petrol pumps, schools/colleges, municipality, press and electronic media, functioning of courts and to and fro movement of flight passengers to the airport  and contractor/worker with valid Airport Entry Permit (AEP) card will be exempted from the imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation.

The order issued by Thoubal District Magistrate, A Subhash Singh said that unauthorized gathering of four or more persons and carrying of arms, sticks, stones, and other weapons is prohibited.

However, all persons belonging to essential services such as Health, PHED, MSPDCL/MSPCL, CAF and PD, municipalities, print and electronic media, to and fro movement of flight passengers to airport and functioning of courts will be exempted from further Imposition of curfew after the expiry of said period of relaxation, it added.
