Manipur Unrest: Churachandpur to bury 87 bodies on December 20

The burial will be held near Khuga Dam, Sehken, Churachandpur.

With regards to the burial of 87 dead bodies in Churachandpur, the convenor of the Joint Philanthropic Organisations (JPO), Laldawnlian Varte, speaking to this correspondent disclosed that the burial will be held on the 20th December 2023 ( Wednesday).

He went on to say for the purpose a tentative programme has been chalked out and shall be circulated later. The burial will be held near Khuga Dam, Sehken, Churachandpur.

He said this decision has been taken by the JPO as per the wishes of the next of kin of the deceased and went on to note that for the purpose a road improvement and clearing of the burial site would be done at least by December 19.

There are 46 dead bodies lying already at Churachandpur district hospital and with the 41 dead bodies airlifted to the district on Thursday from Imphal now, the number of dead bodies to be buried stand at 87.
