A combined security force apprehended two active cadres of proscribed outfit KCP (Taibanganba) from along NH 102 in front of Dhaka Brick Field, near Khongjom on Sunday evening.
According to a police report, a combined team of Thoubal Commandos led by OC, CDO Thoubal K Nitaranjan under the command of Additional SP(Ops)Thoubal H Debendra and a column of 37 AR apprehended the two cadres while they were going for money extortion from general public.
The apprehended cadres were identified as Wangjam Mukesh Singh alias Koba, 41, son of W Babu Singh of Bishnupur Ward No. 1 and Thokchom Ajit Singh alis Commander, 33, son of late Th Yaima Singh of Kakching Ningthou Leikai.
As many as 26 extortion demand letters of KCP (Taibanganba) group, one Hyundai Xcent car, two mobile phones with SIM cards and others were seized from their possession. A case has been registered at Khongjom Police station for further investigation.
