Manipur: UG cadre arrested, arms seized

The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Monday stated that Security Forces arrested an active cadre of proscribed outfit KCP (Taibanganba) identified as Loitongbam Boyai Singh, 43, from Thoubal District.

He was involved in extortion activities in the general area of Yaripok-Nongpok Sekmai, stated a release.

One pistol, 10 live ammunition, one hand grenade with one detonator, one bag containing Rs 3,000, one mobile phone and one Bolero vehicle, were recovered from his possession. A case has been registered for further investigation, it added.

It further stated that search operations andarea domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.

Movement of 222 vehicles along NH-02 with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it mentioned.

It stated that a total of 129 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 343 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room, it mentioned. It further appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was under control, it added.
