Manipur: Two women arrested, heroin worth over Rs 2 crore seized

The two women were arrested with 88 soap cases containing heroin powder worth around Rs 2.35 crore from Mayangkhang village which falls under the jurisdiction of Senapati police station, police said.

Two women were arrested and 88 soap cases containing heroin powder worth around Rs 2.35 crore in the international market were seized from their possession around 1.50 pm Friday, according to a team of district commando, Imphal East. The two women were arrested from Mayangkhang village which falls under the jurisdiction of Senapati police station, police said.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sk Philachan alias Afi, 44, wife of Sk Hitler of Mayangkhang Village, Senapati district and Nanao ZS alias Nanaola, 37, daughter of Ningtam ZS of New-Canal Village, Yaingangpokpi, Imphal-East.

Upon receiving a reliable information about concealment of some illegal drugs (heroin powder) at a residence at Mayangkhang village, Senapati district, the district commando team, along with women police personnel, led by officer-in-charge, district commando Imphal East unit, Kh Henery under the overall supervision of superintendent of police, M Pradip, rushed to the said village after providing prior information to control room, Senapati district police.

During the police activity, Philachan and Nanao were detained at Mayangkhang village and 88 soap cases of heroin powder seized from their possession. Two mobile phones and an Aadhaar card were also seized from their possession.

They have been handed over to Senapati police station for further legal action along with the seized goods.
