Manipur: Two UG cadres arrested

As per a statement from the Manipur Police Control Room, police arrested two suspected active cadres of proscribed KCP (Noyon).

Manipur Police arrested two suspected cadres of a proscribed outfit during frisking and checking on Saturday.

As per a statement from the Manipur Police Control Room, police arrested two suspected active cadres of proscribed KCP (Noyon). They are 23-year-old Khoinaijam Robertson Singh from Imphal East district and 20-year-old Khaidem Naoba Meitei from Kakching district, presently staying at Imphal East District.

The statement further said that a case has been registered against them and further investigations are underway.

It further said that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. The situation in the state was under control during the last 24 hours, it stated.  

It mentioned that movement of 344 and 266 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured and strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.

A total of 133 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 217 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, it added.

It further appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. It also advised them to confirm any circulation of unfounded videos by dialling rumour-free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room and to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
