Manipur: Two KYKL cadres arrested

The arrested cadres have been identified as one RK Chandrabal Singh alias Chinglensana, 61, son of RK Dolansana of Kakwa Lilondo Lampak and Loitongbam Ratan Singh, 56, son of late L Gourachand Singh of Kewakeithel Laishram Leikai.

Manipur police arrested two active cadres of proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL)  on Thursday in connection with the recent planting of explosives and reports of threats.

The arrested cadres have been identified as one RK Chandrabal Singh alias Chinglensana, 61, son of RK Dolansana of Kakwa Lilondo Lampak presently staying at Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai and Loitongbam Ratan Singh, 56, son of late L Gourachand Singh of Kewakeithel Laishram Leikai.

They were arrested from their respective residences at about 5 am and 7 am respectively based on intelligence inputs, police said.

Police said as per preliminary examination, Chandrabal disclosed that he started working for the outfit under the command of self-styled finance secretary, Tombi alias Deepak of Sagolband presently staying at Myanmar since 2000. Ratan also disclosed that he started working for the group since May 2019 under Chandrabal, added the police.

The arrested cadres reportedly disclosed to have extorted huge amounts of money from construction companies and government departments under the instruction of Tombi. They went to Myanmar frequently to get instruction from their commander for further instructions. Two mobile phones were recovered from their possession, said the police.
