Two alleged drug users died while another one was injured following a physical assault by KRA(U) at Motbung Bazar under the jurisdiction of Sapermeina Police station in Kangpokpi district on Saturday at around 7 pm.
Sources said, KRA(U) reportedly assaulted them as they were drug users.
In retaliation to the tragic incident, an irate mob came out in search of KRA(U) cadres and even set ablaze a shop in Motbung Bazar which is owned by a sympathizer of the outfit.
The deceased are identified as Jangminlal of Sapermeina and Jangminlen of Kholep village.
The injured person is Haominthang (37), son of Denkhai of Thingbangjang village under Sapermeina PS.
Further reports said, he has been taken to Dimapur for treatment as he was in a critical condition.
No case has been taken up by Sapermeina police station so far, and there was also no report of a postmortem being conducted on the dead bodies.
Sources said that the case might have been concluded as per the customary law.
