At least two persons were killed in different road mishaps on Thursday which happened in Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.
In the first incident, a 72-year-old man died in a mishap that happened at Phayeng Mamang Lamkhai under Lamshang Police Station, Imphal West District at around 4.50 pm.
The deceased has been identified as Haobam Samungou from Kangchup Lamlongei Awang Leikai. An Alto car 800 bearing registration number MN06LA/2927 hit Samungou who was on his cycle. He died on the spot.
Lamshang Police Station registered a case and handed over the body to the family members after conducting a post mortem at RIMS mortuary.
On the other hand, a 42-year-old man died in another mishap that happened at Sendra road M. Koireng Statue under Moirang police station at around 4.25pm.
The deceased is identified as Salam Umesh, son of S. Manibabu from Moirang Kumam Leikai. He was brought to CHC Moirang after being hit by a truck (DI Tata) bearing registration number MN02A/8565 when he was trying to cross the road on his Honda Activa bearing registration number MN01Q/0928.
He was later referred to Raj Medicity but succumbed to his injuries at around 5.23 pm.
Moirang Police Station registered a case and handed over the body to the family members after conducting a post mortem at RIMS mortuary.
