Two persons riding a scooter died after colliding into an unmoving truck which was being parked at Sericulture Gate No 2 Kwakta under Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station in Bishnupur district around 8 pm on Sunday.
As per sources, the truck (Tata- NL07A/3585) was being parked at the mentioned spot after its tyre got punctured while transporting Sand from Dimapur. The scooter (Activa- MN06SE/7896) that was coming from Imphal side came into collision with the parked truck. Both the driver and the pillion rider died on the spot, as per sources.
The deceased has been identified as Salam Surchandra ,36, son of S Deina from Saiton Bazar and Arambam Angoucha, 36, son of (L) A Ibomcha from Saiton Ward No V.
Ikhai police have registered a case in connection with the incident, and both the bodies have been handed over to family members after conducting a post-mortem examination.
