Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts of Manipur. During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control, Manipur police stated in a release on Monday.
It stated that security forces apprehended two active cadres of KYKL from Kamjong district on Saturday.
The arrested persons are SS Pvt Angom Thoiba Meitei alias Pari, 18, of Kakching District and one juvenile. A case has been registered for further investigation.
Movement of 142 and 191 vehicles along NH-02 and NH-37 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.
A total of 136 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 169 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, it said.

Further an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
Man arrested, ganja seized
Imphal West District Police arrested one individual in possession of 11.379 kg of Ganja. On receiving inputs regarding movement of illicit contraband items in and around North AOC, Imphal West District Police rushed to the spot and based on inputs arrested the person identified as Anup Kamakar, 30 son of (L) Kala Kamakar of Ulubari, Assam. A case has been registered at Imphal Police Station in this regard and investigations are underway.
Abducted person rescued
Imphal East district police rescued a person who was abducted by some unknown miscreants on Saturday at around 5 pm. The victim has been identified as Kish Sarunao, 55, son of (L) Shimreingam Sarunao of Nongdam Tangkhul. He was abducted by the unknown miscreants and taken away to an unknown place along with his vehicle Scorpio bearing registration number MN09A/0408.
A case has been registered at Porompat Police station and an operation was conducted in suspected areas. Imphal East district police rescued the abducted person along with his vehicle from Napetpalli area safely.
Police arrested one accused person namely Lukhram Bikram Singh alias Kuthan, 40, son of L Irabot Singh of Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai. The accused person was produced before the duty magistrate on Monday and remanded into police custody for five days till February 7.
