Office of the Superintendent of Police, Traffic control police wing notified about traffic diversions and alternative routes in connection with the counting of votes for 18th Lok Sabha Election scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
The notice said that restriction on movement of vehicles for the general public will be imposed in connection with the counting of votes to be held at DC Imphal West Office Complex, Lamphel and DC Imphal East Office Complex, Porompat from 6 am on Tuesday till the counting is over in the interest and safety of the public. However, emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire tenders will be exempted from the restriction, it added.
It said that for Imphal West, all vehicles coming from Naoremthong Laishram Leirak towards DC Office Complex Lamphelpat will be restricted. It further mentioned that vehicles going to Langol Game villages and Uripok Kangchup road (UK Road) will be diverted towards Chingangbam Leirak/Mohon Motor Workshop Leirak.
While for Imphal East, all vehicles coming from Porompat crossing towards DC Office Complex Porompat will be diverted towards JIMS Road and Ayangpalli road, it stated. It further informed that vehicles coming from Kongpal Iranpham bridge towards DC Office Complex Porompat will be diverted towards Kongkham Leikai and Kshetri Leikai river bank, while those coming from AAA Train Crossing towards DC Office Complex Porompat will be diverted towards TV Tower road.
Similarly, the office of the Traffic Police, Thoubal has also issued a traffic advisory for Thoubal District for Counting day.
The notice issued by Officer-in-Charge, Traffic Police, Thoubal said that vehicular traffic along Thoubal District National Highway 102 will remain affected from 6 am up to 8 pm and advised motorists to avoid unnecessary movement along said road.
It briefed that vehicles coming from Imphal towards Kakching side will be diverted at IVR Nepra Charangpat road to IVR Wangbal Hayenlabuk Palli Road to Wangbal Bazar. While, vehicles coming from Khangabok towards Imphal side will be diverted at IVR Nepra Company road to IVR Charangpat Nepra Junction to Yairipok Lamkhai, it stated.
It further mentioned that vehicles coming from Khongjom towards Imphal side will be diverted at IVR Wangbal Hayenlabuk Palli Road to IVR Charangpat Nepra Junction to Yairipok Lamkhai. The diversions have been arranged to ensure hindrance free movement of vehicular traffic on said day, it added.
It also notified the parking arrangements for counting staff, stating that vehicles coming from Wangjing side will be parked at Athokpam Junior High School ground and Veterinary Office campus, while those coming from Thoubal side will be parked at areas in front of HDFC Bank and TATA Motors, Thoubal Premises.
It further stated that all vehicles belonging to Counting Agents, Security personnel etc. coming from Kakching - Pallel side towards DC office, Thoubal will be parked at Khangabok Higher Secondary School and Public ground opposite SP Office, Thoubal. While, all vehicles coming from Imphal side towards DC office/Thoubal will be parked at Thoubal Melaground and Chaoyaima Higher secondary school ground
This notice issued with approval of competent authority, it said and added that inconvenience caused is regretted.
