Manipur: Three women dies of shock, heart attack in Sugnu firing

Family members said that the attack launched by Kuki militants on Wednesday morning stopped for a while at around 11 pm and continued with their attacks again.

Three elderly women died of heart attack and BP stroke from the sounds of guns and bombs fired by the Kuki militants towards Sugnu Meitei villages since Wednesday morning.

The three deceased are Khaidem Achoubi (74) wife Kh Ibohanbi Sugnu Awang Leikai Pukhri Achouba Manak, she died of heart attack, Laisham Dasumati (60) wife (L) Muhindro of Sugnu Bazar, she died of BP low Stroke and Thongam Chaoba (80) wife of (L) Munan Sugnu Awang Mandop who died of a stroke.

The attacks launched by Kuki militants continued in the area. A suspected 81 mm mortar shell fired by the Kuki militants landed and exploded at the front yard of one Moirangthem Radhamohan of Sugnu Awang Leikai near Sugnu bridge and destroyed the area on Thursday morning around 4.

Family members said that the attack launched by Kuki militants on Wednesday morning stopped for a while at around 11 pm and continued with their attacks again. No casualties were reported and some parts of the house were destroyed.

Another bomb fired by the Kuki militants also landed inside the barrack of BSF 136 Battalion D Company stationed at Sugnu Higher secondary school and exploded on Wednesday. A BSF personnel also sustained injury during an attack launched by the Kuki militants on Thursday morning around 7.30 am. Intermittent firing still continued in the area.
