The Thoubal district Police have arrested a member of Ningol Macha Group following an abduction case while rescuing the abducted individual at the same time.
As per police reports, the victim is one Md Amir @ Boboy, 21, son of Md Habibur Rahman of Lilong Chingjao; he was abducted from Waithou on Saturday at around 8.30 pm.
Hearing the news of the abduction, a combined team of Thoubal district Police Quick Response Team (QRT) and 33 AR began checking commuters along the Imphal-Moreh NH 2. During this, they stopped two people coming on a Honda Activa.
Upon interrogation, the person who was on the passenger seat revealed that he was apprehended by a member of Ningol macha group identified as Md Sharif Khan @ Masten (28), son of Md Abdul Gaffar of Phoudel Maning Leikai at gunpoint; Sharif Khan was the rider of the Activa. Md Sharif Khan also agreed to the statement given by the victim.
On checking, a country made 9MM pistol along with seven live rounds were also seized.
The arrested person was handed over to Lilong Police station for further investigation and a case has also been registered.
