Manipur Thinkers’ Forum organised a one-day seminar on ‘A Resilient Manipur: conversations on the concept of Manipur’ at Imphal Hotel on Sunday.
During the first session, Manipur University professor Chongtham Priyoranjan and Jawaharlal Nehru University professor Bhagat Oinam delivered a speech on ‘A Bridge between generations: Reconceptualising and Conceptualising Manipur’.
Speaking on the sideline of the programme, Manipur Thinkers’ Forum president, retired lieutenant general L Nishikanta Singh said the idea of organising the seminar is to fill up the gap between the young generation and old generations. If the gap is not filled up, then contradictory concepts might come up between youths and the old generation.
By utilizing the wisdom of the old generation, who had been great thinkers in the past, the programme aims to fill up the gap with young generations, he said.
Manipur University professor Chongtham Priyoranjan said that the speakers will try to strengthen the idea of Manipur by comparing it with the past and present during the discussion.
A diverse panel of experts further explored the same theme in the second session.
Exploring the theme, Farizudin from Imphal College; Asheema Haobijam from Tele MANAS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of India; Civil judge, Manipur Judicial Services, Mangaleibi and research scholar, DMU, Chetan Yenshembam expressed their ideas on the same topic. The conversation was moderated by associate professor IGNTU Homen Thangjam.
