Manipur Police on Sunday arrested two individuals in possession of suspected heroin powder weighing 2.500 kg from Thoubal District while security forces apprehended two active cadres of UKLF on Saturday near Sangaikot PS.
Police control room said that N Alexander, 47 and Ws Perang Anal were arrested with suspected heroin powder and one mobile phone and other identity documents were also recovered.
It stated that UKLF cadres Tonghoukhup Baite, 27 and Kamkholun Guite, 45 were arrested along with one 9mm Beretta pistol with magazine with five live rounds, one two-wheeler vehicle, one knife and two mobile phones. They were involved in extortion activities along Churachandpur Sangaikot Road.

It added that movement of 253 vehicles along NH-2 with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
A total of 131 nakas/checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and valley and police detained 189 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
