Manipur Super 50 students felicitated

The felicitation programme was organised by the Spear Corps of the Indian Army.

Underprivileged JEE aspirants from Manipur who cleared the JEE exam, 2024 under the Manipur Super 50 programme were felicitated at the Sikh Regiment base camp at Ngaikhong Khunou, Bishnupur district on Wednesday.

The felicitation programme was organised by the Spear Corps of the Indian Army.

Among the young achievers from the 2nd batch of Manipur Super 50 classes, six students successfully cleared the JEE Mains, 2024 while four local Wushu players who achieved accolades at state and national levels championships were also felicitated during the event.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines, Honghsha Shelpungman, a student from Kamjong district who cleared the JEE mains in his first attempt, expressed gratitude for providing such a platform for young underprivileged NEET and JEE aspirants from Manipur.

“There were apprehensions regarding the classes at first but as we progressed I experienced the top-notch quality education provided at the classes,” he said.

He stated that there were numerous difficulties in attending the classes because of the ongoing conflict.
We couldn’t foretell what would happen because of the crisis, he added.

He expressed gratitude to National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), SBI and the Indian Army for putting together the Manipur Super 50 coaching programme.

He exuded confidence that the programme would aid young underprivileged students from every nook and corner of the state and help them achieve their goals.

Meanwhile, NIEDO project manager Oliver Chiru highlighted that the Manipur Super 50 classes was a joint initiative of the Indian Army, SBI and NIEDO, which is an NGO.

“Under the programme, 50 students from various corners in Manipur are selected after written test and personal interviews,” he said.

He pointed out that the programme was started in 2022 and that this was second batch students.
We are planning to start a class in Imphal as well, he added.

The six students who cleared the JEE mains are Sahid Ali, Oinam Ronenson Singh, Roshan Kumar Gupta, Ronaldo Yumnam and Sashikanta.

Four local Wushu players, namely Tamphasana, N Bidiyasagar, Koijam Yaisana and A Gracy, who won medals in various championships including Khelo India, East Zone, North East Games, and Sub Junior National Championships, were also felicitated for their achievements.

Heishnam Thomas, a young national level Wushu player from Thanga, who overcame an accident during the Wushu Championships in February 2024, was also acknowledged for his achievements.

Senior officers from the Indian Army, DC of Bishnupur district Lourembam Bikram and SP of Bishnupur district S Ravi Kumar along with parents, guardians and teachers were also present at the event.
