Numerous students of Brilliance School, Malom on Sunday gathered in front of the western Kangla gate and held a candlelight vigil in honour and paying tribute to the ones who were martyred while protecting the state's integrity in the ongoing conflict and the two young students who were executed mercilessly .
Demanding authorities to usher peace swiftly, the students paid floral tribute and prayers to the martyrs and the two students.
The students also observed a two-minute silence in honour of the departed souls. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the observance, a student of Brilliance School Thoudam Galaxson condemned the brutal execution of the two students and demanded authorities to retrieve the bodies of the two young souls.
“The long drawn out turmoil has seriously impeded the academic calendar of students in Manipur. We want authorities to be proactive and usher peace in the interest of the Student community,” he said.
He also appealed to the state government to lift the ban on mobile internet as it was disrupting the academic activities of students.
“From far flung areas, there are numerous students who do not have access to broadband connectivity. On top of that, classes are disrupted every now then because of the turmoil and it is becoming hard to keep up with the academic calendar without the internet,” he said.
