The Joint Students’ Body, Lamka on Saturday raised strong condemnations against the immediate suspension of three officials under the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), and threatened to launch an intensive stir if the suspension is not revoked.
A release issued by the student body stated that it demands a revocation of the suspension order within the next 48 hours, starting from midnight Friday, failing which a full scale agitation will be started.
It condemned the immediate suspension of three officials under the ZEO, namely ZEO, Churachandpur Jangkhohao Haokip, DI of Schools, Samulamlan L Taithul and ZEO, Kangpokpi Lhingtinneng for disciplinary proceedings.
The student body alleged that “the unwarranted action on the part of the Education Department, Government of Manipur is an attempt to ruin our education system.”
The three suspended officials acted in the best interest of the student community and were indeed the Competent Authorities to issue the No Objection Certificate (NOC) and on the basis of which the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has granted 26 schools affiliation.
The belated disaffiliation of these schools in the month of December, 2023 was clearly under political pressure and influence, it stated. It also condemned the shifting of the office of the three suspended officials to Imphal at this time of conflict.
