'Manipur State Panchayat Parishad not against government'

The MSPP recalled that they have been urging the government to fulfill their demands by the end of January 2023 but the government, RD and PR department failed to respond to their demands.

Manipur State Panchayat Parishad (MSPP) president Md Abdul Latif clarified that members of MSPP went to Delhi to table some demands of PRI’s and it was not against the government in any way.

MSPP in a release said that they came across a Facebook post by CM N Biren Singh criticising the panchayat team for going against the government.

MSPP recalled that they have been urging the government to fulfill their demands by the end of January 2023 but the government, RD and PR department failed to respond to their demands. They also announced that they will leave for Delhi on February 1 to table their demands to the authorities concerned, the release added.

The PRI’s demanded to sanction their pending wages of Rs 506 crore, another Rs 302 crore of material components and to conduct the Panchayat Election on time which has been postponed from October 2022, it stated.

MSPP also appealed to the authorities concerned to find an alternative to give away the pending wages of Rs 506 crore for MGNREGA, which had been released by the ministry on June 23, 2022. It further appealed to also release the Rs 406 crore from the state account before February 20.
