Manipur, who had a glorious run in the championship, found the perfect opponent in Mizoram in the final match but the latter proved to be more aggressive in pursuit of the goal.

Mizoram got the early breakthrough in the 4th minute of play with midfielder Lalruatdika making a lofted shot from the right box to enjoy the first half. The rain marred soggy outfield and made passes difficult but Mizoram managed well to move past Manipur defender and Lalhnehzova, in the 52nd minute, and Isak Lalmalsawma, in the 77th minute, scored the all-important goals.

Manipur's noteworthy shot in the match came from substitute Md. Istak Khan when he gave Mizoram a scare, hitting the upright with a powerful volley in the second half.
