Senapati district police seized 640 grams of brown sugar from a white-colour Hyundai i20 while conducting frisking and checking near Martyrs Park about 2 kms South from Senapati police station on Friday at around 5 pm.
The car bearing registration number AS01DH-8656, which was on its way to Nagaland from Senapati side, was stopped for checking. On checking the vehicle, suspected brown sugar was found concealed below the seats of driver and co-driver.
DC Senapati was intimated and a request was made to depute one Magistrate. Accordingly, SDC Senapati Ch. Neli (56), Executive Magistrate was deputed for doing the necessary procedures.
The driver and the vehicle were thoroughly checked in the presence of the magistrate. The driver is identified as D Datho (27), son of Dahrii of Phaibung Khunou village, Senapati district.
On checking the vehicle, 50 soap cases were found concealed below the seats of driver and co-driver of the vehicle. The soap cases were weighed by using a weighing machine in presence of the Executive Magistrate and weighed 640 grams (without the weight of the soap cases).
The 50 soap cases of suspected brown sugar were seized in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and witnesses by preparing a formal seizure. The detained person was formally arrested at 6:20 pm by observing formalities.
Items seized during the search are 50 soap cases suspected to contain brown sugar, weighing 640 grams, one white Hyundai i20 car along with key, one Aadhar card of the driver bearing number 567596718706, one mobile phone model Redmi Note 12 pro 5G bearing IMEI-1 No. 863393064908556 and IMEI-2 No. 863393064908564 along with one Airtel SIM card No. 9862683864.
