A huge cache of explosives was seized from Moltingcham village in Thoubal district during a joint operation conducted by the Kakching district police and 37 Assam Rifles on Sunday.
According to police, a commando team headed by OC of Kakching Commando Unit S Birla, under the supervision of Kakching District police SP Thokchom Vikramjit and directed by Additional SP (ops) Binoi Chongtham conducted combing operation at Moltingcham village.
The team launched the operation around 7 am and discovered four .36 Hand Grenade, two country made explosive pipe launchers, 12 bore cartridges, five mortar smoke shells of 2 inch, two helmets, one baofeng radio handset, three bullet proof vest and one leg anklet.
The recovered items were handed over to Sugnu police station while a case has been registered for further investigation.
