Manipur: Security forces continue search operations

A latest statement from the Manipur Police Control Room said that the situation in the state was under control.

Security forces on Thursday carried out search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts across Manipur.

A latest statement from the Manipur Police Control Room said that the situation in the state was under control.

It also reiterated government’s move of setting up a 24x7 Control Room to improve coordination in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts and address the requirements of those affected by incessant rains due to Cyclone Remal.

It further appealed to all to stay in their respective homes and venture out only for essential duties or requirements.

The statement also said that movement of 214 and 74 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured and strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.

A total of 99 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 17 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it mentioned.

It further appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. It also advised them to confirm any circulation of unfounded videos by dialling rumour-free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room and to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
