Manipur: Security forces carry out operations

Search operations and area domination conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts of Manipur.

Kakching District Police carried out an area domination and search operation at Tangjeng Khunjao under Sugnu PS, Kakching District on Wednesday.

Around 31 houses were searched and 53 individuals were verified during the operation carried out from 7.30 am till 8.30 am; no one was detained nor arrested.

Thoubal District Police also conducted search operations in and around the Khongjom Tengol Leikai areas under Khongjom PS, Thoubal District.

About 28 houses were searched and 66 individuals were verified during the search operation carried out from 5.45 am till 7 am. However, no arrests nor seizures were made during the operation.

The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Wednesday stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.

The situation in the state was tense with sporadic incidents of firing but under control during the last 24 hours, stated a release.

It mentioned that the movement of 216 and 226 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.

It further stated that a total of 141 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 200 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately, it added.
