Padma Shri Dr A Jayantakumar on Tuesday decried Manipur security advisor Kuldiep Singh’s comment that the ongoing problem in the state is hard to resolve because of “conflicting interests between three dominant tribes in Manipur namely Meetei, Kuki and Nagas.”

The comment on Meitei community was reportedly made on one of the national television on Monday, stated a release.

Portraying the Meitei community of having conflict with the other tribes in Manipur is a poorly conceived idea and shows the Meiteis in a poor light, it stated.

Such comments in such a volatile situation needs rethinking when the Meiteis are trying their best to normalise the situation, it stated.

It further said that the conflict is between the Kuki terrorists and not the Kukis in general, adding that people are against the terrorists who wage war against the state or the country.

It stated that all Meiteis in the relief camps are showing willingness and eagerness to return to their original places like Churachandpur and Moreh, which are Kuki-dominated areas and live again peacefully.
