Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh briefs Governor on law and order

Kuldiep Singh while briefing about the law and order situation informed the Governor about the deployment of central forces along the fringe areas to prevent untoward incidents, stated a release from the Governor’s Secretariat.

Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and briefed her about the prevailing security situation in the State.

Kuldiep Singh while briefing about the law and order situation informed the Governor about the deployment of central forces along the fringe areas to prevent untoward incidents, stated a release from the Governor’s Secretariat.

He also informed that some forces have to be withdrawn for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections for some time but are likely to return after the election process is over and redeployment takes place, it stated.

Central forces are being engaged in guarding state armories and also for escorting vehicles along the two national highways, namely NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) and NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road), it mentioned.

The Governor further asked the Security Advisor to take all possible measures to check any untoward incident and ensure safety and security of the people in general, it added.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Thoubal Police and 33 Assam Rifles caught four cadres of KCP(PWG) red-handed from Yairipok Bazzar along with arms and ammunitions while they were extorting money.

The combined team was led by OC/CDO Thoubal unit.

The arrested cadres have been identified as one Sinam Bijen alias Mangang Meetei, 38, son of S Joy of Ingourok Awang Leikai, Thoubal; Angom Ingo alias Apa Singh, 53, son of (Late) A Kula Singh of Nongpok Sekmai Ward No. 3, Thoubal; Warepam Jayenta Singh, 36, son of  (Late) W Ibomcha Singh of Khamaran Makha Leikai, Imphal West District and Oinam Naocha alias Max Singh, 24, son of O Biren Singh of Modangpok Khunjao Awang Leikai, Imphal West.

During preliminary interrogation they disclosed that they are active members of the said outfit KCP(PWG).

Five Mobile Handset; two 9mm Pistol with 15 live rounds; five demand letters of the outfit; two rounds of 5.56 mm ammunitions; four rounds of 7.62 mm ammunitions and one A-Star car white in colour were seized from their possession.

A case has been registered at concerned police station for further necessary action.

On the other hand, police arrested one Laishram Ronen Singh, 48 yrs allegedly a member of the KCP Taibanganba faction along with one .32 pistol two magazines four live roundsand two mobile phones from Imphal West district.

The police release said, he is involved in extortion of money from Thangal Bazar and Paona Bazar.
