Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Friday stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
The situation in the state was tense with the congregation of protesters at several locations but under control during the last 24 hours, stated a release.
One improvised mortar launcher, three Mortar explosive (bombs), three primary cartridges from Kangpokpi district were seized during the operations, it stated.
It mentioned that one Point 38 Pistol with magazine, 10 Improvised Explosive Devices (country made), three No.36 Hand Grenade, 85 rounds 7.62x33 mm Carbine Machine ammunition, 10 7.62x39mm AK live ammunition, two Point 38 Pistol ammunition from Tengnoupal district.
Movement of 347 and 290 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured, it mentioned. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.
It further stated that a total of 133 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 163 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room. It appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately, it added.
