Security forces carried out search operations at Lailoiphai and Dongyang villages of Churachandpur district and Sugnu areas on Tuesday, vulnerable areas, as there have been series of gunfights at the said areas for more than a week.
The attacks carried out by Kuki militants at Sugnu area continued on Monday night but not as intense as the fast few days. The search operations conducted on both sides started at 8.20 am on Tuesday.
A combined team of SP Kakching, Th. Bikramjit, additional SPs, commandos and 136 BN BSF personnel led by DIG, H Jogeshchandra carried out search operations at different parts of Sugnu, Kakching district. Another combined team of CRPF, BSF, ITBP and Ccpur Police also conducted search operations at Lailoiphai and Dongyang villages in Churachandpur. No arms, ammunition were recovered and no one was arrested in the search.
The combined security forces also carried out area domination at Lailoiphai and Dongyang areas where the Kuki militants sheltered.
SP Kakching said that such search operations will be continued in the said areas. Exchange of fire on both sides paused as soon as the search operation was initiated.
